Barmouth & Dyffryn Utd FC vs Conwy Borough FC
Hard fought victory for Conwy Borough FC to maintain their 100% start to the season
From the start of the game Barmouth's game plan was to let Conwy have the ball but get tight when they pressed into the final third. A few half chances here and there but in the 13th minute Conwy were finally able to punish when Barmouth dropped off Jamie Roberts in the middle of the park. Jamie was able to thread the ball through the heart of the defensive to which Tom Walsh was able to run onto the end of it and curl it around the Barmouth keeper to give Conwy the lead. Corrig then had the chance to double the lead when he found himself in space but could only drag his shot wide of the mark. In the 23rd minute Barmouth were able to get themselves back into the game through Shane Jones. Kevin Lloyd was then able to restored Conwy's lead with a neat finish on the 29th minute before Conwy were awarded a penalty on the 40th minute. Corrig able to grab his first goal of the day when he converted the penalty into the bottom corner. Taking the visitors into half-time with a 3-1 lead.
A sense of purpose was shown by Barmouth in the second half as they fought to get back into the game. Conwy were limited to counter attacking and were nearly awarded in the 69th minute when Sion Hogan got himself into the Barmouth box but after several deflections the ball could only hit the crossbar. Not one minute later and Barmouth were able to pull a goal back on the counter attack with Ieuan Brooks able to get on the end of a loose ball and slot it home. It was all Barmouth from there as they looked to try and draw the game level. As the game hit the 90th minute, seven minutes of added on time was given because of injuries to both sides. As Barmouth looked the third goal to draw the game, Conwy were able to counter and Corrig was able to grab his second of the day and four minutes later completed his third hat-trick of the campaign when Conwy were awarded another penalty. The last seconds of the game saw Shane Jones double his tally for Barmouth before the referee blew the final whistle on an exciting 5-3 victory for Conwy Borough FC.
