Llanberis vs Conwy

Conwy began life in the Lock Stock Welsh alliance with a trip to Llanberis and didn’t disappoint returning with 3 points following and 8 0 win.

The game started with a high tempo from both sides with very little quality early on as the ball zipped from end to end on a slippy surface. Conwy seemed to rush things early on but on 5 minutes an excellent strike from Corrig McGonnigle from 20 yards flew in and gave the team a much-needed early goal. This settled the team down and on 12 minutes Conwy appealed for a penalty when a cross from Corrig saw Sion Hogan go down in the area but despite appeals for a push the claims where waved away. The 2nd goal arrived on 20 minutes when good link up play between Kevin Lloyd and Corrig McGonnigle saw Sion Hogan finish. Conwy had settled and started to knock the ball around well, the 3rd goal came on 31 minutes when the hard-working Kev Lloyd broke up the play and played in Corrig for his 3rd goal. Llanberis had a good opportunity to get a goal back but Jason Jones fired over.

Half time and Conwy took in a deserved 3 0 lead, straight from kick off a long kick from Ceirion Hall saw Kevin Lloyd flick the ball on for Tommy Creamer to cross and Corrig complete his 1st hat trick for the club. The game started to get a bit more competitive and keeper Ceirion Hall was on the end of a nasty challenge on 58 minutes, following a delay Llanberis had Adam Hughes sent off for dissent. On 60 minutes Sion Hogan added his 2 nd and Conwy 5th before competing his hat trick on 62 minutes when he headed home from a Matty Hughes clearance for the 6th goal. Conwy introduced Matty Lock for Gethin Maxwell on 65 minutes, the next goal arrived on 70 minutes when Kevin Lloyd fired home for a deserved goal following his performance. A blow for Conwy on 73 minutes when skipper Iolo Hughes came of injured, the scoring was complete on 82 minutes when Sion Hogan rounded off a superb performance with his 4th of the afternoon to complete a great day’s work for the new squad and management team.
