Manager Gareth Thomas handed a debut to Gerwyn Jones who completed his transfer from Rhyl FC in midweek and he slotted into a back 4 alongside Iolo Hughes. Jamie Roberts and Leigh Craven where also recalled as Borough shuffled the squad.
The home side started with a strong wind behind them and played some superb stuff from the start with the opening goal coming on 11 minutes when Brenden Hogan played the ball into Corrig McGonigle who flicked the ball on for Cory Williams to outpace his marker and finish with a low drive passed the keeper. The lead was doubled on 14 minutes when Tommy Creamer was allowed space in the 18 yard box and he fired home to make it 2-0. On 17 minutes Cory Williams scored a stunning goal when he pulled a Iolo Hughes pass down and volleyed home from 35 yards to make it 3-0. Llandegai where reduced to 10 men when Liam Willingham was dismissed for dissent to make the visitors night even harder. On 20 minutes yet another spectacular strike saw Brendun Hogan score from some 30 yards out and his sweetly struck shot flew into the top corner to give keeper James Roberts no chance. On 23 minutes Tommy Creamer scored the goal of the night when some quick passing saw him receive the ball 30 yards from goal and again his effort gave the keeper no chance to make it 5-0. The hosts in full control passing the ball around using the space and additional man. On 38 minutes the scoring for the half was complete when Gerwyn Jones headed home from a Iolo Hughes flick to put the home side 6-0 up going into the break.
The 2nd half again saw Borough with the majority of the ball early on but the Llandegai defence played a high line and Conwy became frustrated with several off side decisions against them, On 55 minutes Cory Williams thought he scored a well deserved hat trick but the flag went up and the goal was disallowed. On 62 minutes Llandegai keeper James Roberts pulled off a superb double save to deny Ant Williams and Jamie Roberts. The 7th goal arrived on 71 minutes when Corrig McGonigle got in on the act following a good approach play down the right hand side. The 8th goal arrived on 78 minutes when Bren Hogan crossed for Corrig to head home for his 45th of the season. To Llandegai's credit they kept battling and in the closing stages they where rewarded with a consolation goal when Alwyn Roberts reacted quickest in the box to head home to make the scoreline 8-1.
A much better performance from Conwy and another 3 points on the board.
Following the game we caught up with Perry who was delighted with the performance tonight: " There's been plenty to think about following the defeat last week but we went back to basics in training in and credit the players they responded tonight with an excellent performance. We dominated the game even before the sending off. Some of the finishing tonight was top draw with 3 superb individual strikes and a couple of decent team goals. The players know our targets for the season and we will continue to keep working hard and trying to get consistency in our performances. It's another game knocked off in the countdown and another 3 points We can know start looking at a busy week with a Semi Final on Wednesday before another game less tahn 48 hours later on Friday which is ridiculous in my opinion not just for us but also Llandudno Albion who find themselves in the same position.
