The equaliser came on 27 minutes when Sean McCaffery was fouled in the box and up stepped McGonigle to fire home the spot kick. As half time approached Borough hit the bar when a well struck as McCaffery effort rebounded to safety.

The second half saw Borough have plenty of possession without creating many clear cut chances. The game was settled on 67 minutes when a disputed free kick was awarded and from the resulting safe despite a home side captain Joe Vaughan fired home the winning goal.

Borough continued to press and created several chances but couldn’t find a way past Jimmy Haynes who was outstanding for the home side as they saw the game out to claim the 3 points

Following the game Perry bemoaned that the performance wasn’t good enough: “The players have failed to produce today and we were not good enough all over the park. Again we have conceded poor goals and despite having plenty of the ball when we have got in on goal their keeper was outstanding. We all have to stick togather and regroup. We are On a bad run and only we can get us out of it. The players will work hard this week and we will look to go back to basics to try and get back on track.”
