Despite having goalkeeper Ben Heald controversially red-carded in the first half Borough picked up 3 points at Guilsfield with goals on 88 and 90 minutes from Corrig McGonigle and Sean McCaffrey.
Manager Warren Gibbs was delighted to pick up the points and said: “The game couldn't have started any worse for us, 1-0 down and having Ben Heald our keeper harshly sent off in the first 25 minutes. We had to reshuffle the shape of the side and concede that we would have less of the ball to a team that keep it well. Credit to centre half Gerwyn Jones for taking up the gloves following Ben’s red card.
However the message at half time was if we can stay in the game then opportunities would come. The players put in so much effort to defend our goal that I don’t remember 'the cat' Gerwyn having to make a significant save after half time. It is also a credit to the lads and the character in the squad that after equalising on 88 minutes with a penalty win and converted by Corrig McGonigle we kept going forward and Sean McCaffrey produced a moment of quality in stoppage time to grab the winner. We are looking forward to every game now with confidence and next week can't come quick enough.
Perfomance of the day for me though has to go to Lewis Clayton for his singing on the journey home, what a talent!”
