Manager's thoughts on first home game of the season

5 months ago By Andrew Brockbank

Following on from last night game we caught up with the manager for his thoughts.

"The game was what we all expected having watched Greenfield last week, they are a decent outfit and made it hard for us to break them down. I felt 1st half we wasted several good chances, that said Danny Stanton has pulled of two great saves. We spoke at half time about still being in the game and moving the ball quicker but within a minute we found ourselves trailing after we gave the ball away easy in our penalty box. The lads responded to be fair and got back on level terms with a superb strike. This settled us and I felt we moved the ball quicker and into the right areas. The game became spoilt for both teams with petty free kicks being awarded all over the park but we were fortunate to get a penalty and go ahead, whilst they had a great shout for a spot kick themselves just after we took the lead. The sending off in the 70th minute killed the game but it allowed us more space as we utilised the extra man well and rounded off the scoring with 2 late goals which probably gave the scoreline a flattering score but its all about the 3 points this early in the season".
